If you’re like us and love your spa getaways to exotic lands, this is one bit of news you can’t miss. This month, the 50-year-old Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, will unveil new luxurious treatment rooms (taking the total to nine). These include two VIP Suites, a new dedicated Thai Massage room with a custom-made Thai bed, a new couples’ room called Patchouli, besides existing rooms.
In case you need references, The Mandarin Spa, set over three floors, has been voted among the “Top Spas in the World” by leading publications and has been awarded five-star status by the Forbes Travel Guide for five consecutive years.
You can choose from a series of luxurious treatments and packages including a traditional 60-minute or 90-minute Thai massage (it’s also called the “lazy man’s yoga”, you know) consisting of gentle rocking motions, rhythmic acupressure and assisted stretching to deeply relax and revitalise the body and mind. Couples can go for the two-hour “Time Together” experience – unless you’d rather stay apart, of course. 🙂
Other facilities here include a Chinese herb steam room, a hydrotherapy Kneipp pool, as well as experience showers and a relaxation area. Design highlights include a dark, warm colour palette with Asian detailing and lacquer décor. On display is an elegant six-foot statue of Kuan-Yin, Goddess of Mercy, holding the peach of life. The legend says that once you eat it, “you will experience neither hunger nor thirst; old age and death will have no power over you: you will live forever.”
Sounds good to us.
