Our favourite feminist from Bollywood, Kalki Koechlin graces the cover of The Magazine by Pernia’s Pop Up Shop this month. It’s their fifth anniversary and the cover shoot this time is sophisticated and simply gorgeous. All the more so because Kalki is someone you can’t help admiring, whether it’s for her personality, her oeuvre of films, her stance on women’s issues, or her fabulous fashion. She makes everything look good!
On the cover, Kalki wears a lavender rose appliqué work pencil skirt by Archana Rao, with a fitted white, button-down shirt by Nachiket Barve.
Shot by Taras Taraporvala, with styling by Edward Lalrempuia, the shoot features designers such as Amit GT, Mandira Wirk, Neha Taneja and Nishka Lulla among others. Makeup and hair has been done by Savleen Manchanda.
In the accompanying interview, the 33-year-old Kalki talks about a temporary tattoo of a flock of birds on her back that she’s got for her new web series, in which she plays a Portuguese DJ. “I’m too much of a commitment-phobe to get a real one,” she told the magazine.
If a movie was to be made on her life, Kalki is sure it would be a tragic-satire-comedy. “Oh and I would love to have Julia Roberts play me.” Hmm, yes, there is something of a resemblance there.
All the garments and accessories used in the shoot are available on Perniaspopupshop.com.
