The second edition of eShe’s ‘Shine Your Light’ personal-growth workshops was held in V Club Gurgaon on April 6, 2019.
The agenda? Anti-ageing facial yoga, creative dance therapy, breaking menstruation taboos, celebrating sexuality and sharing one’s wisdom.
Here’s a lowdown of what exactly went on at the event.

The afternoon began with accessories designer and yoga teacher Tarini Nirula, who has 500 hours of advanced yoga training behind her, leading the participants through a session of facial yoga.
Facial yoga is proven to reduce signs of ageing such as wrinkles by boosting circulation and toning skin. The session also included gentle breathing exercises and moments of silent meditation.

Next up, we had creative dance therapy by Neera Suri, who is certified in creative movement therapy, Reiki healing, hypnotherapy, Access Consciousness, and is a licensed Heal Your Life practitioner. With an academic background in mathematics and psychology, she has also studied Kathak since she was five.
She led the participants through a fun and exhilarating round of free movement, dance and generally going crazy and letting our hair down. Ladies were literally rolling about on the floor in laughter!
Creative dance removes emotional blocks and clears out negative energies from the mind and body. Without realising it, the participants let their inhibitions go, and in the process felt more joyful and free.

This was followed by a coffee break sponsored by Vishaka Beriwala of Mean Bean Co and V Club.

After this, Monica Bindra, co-founder of the eco-friendly sanitary napkins brand Laiqa, shared the results of her research about menstrual health and hygiene. Menstruation taboos in India were discussed, and participants shared their own experiences.

Soon, eShe’s founder editor Aekta Kapoor shared her tips on sexual empowerment and why it’s important to tap into the sexual energy within you. Since it was the first day of Navratras or Durga Puja, she referred to the feminine energy in the universe and how we can empower ourselves in all aspects of our lives by uncovering and discovering the gifts our own bodies hold for us. Her talk was followed by a short fun and flirty dance, and concluded with a gratitude meditation.

Finally, participants all went through a session of ‘sharing their wisdom’. Each person was given exactly one minute to share a tip from their life, profession or anything they were good at.
Tips went from how to have good hair to not judging others for their choices to never giving up in the face of odds.

At the end, participants went home smiling and charged up, with goodie bags filled with gift hampers from Spaveda, Laiqa, Mean Bean Coffee, Slurrp Farm, and lovingly baked brownies by Mala Bindra.
And there was chit-chat and photography of course!
