eShe TV: Sukhinder Singh Cassidy on taking risks and choosing possibility, even if it’s just 1% at a time

Tech entrepreneur Sukhinder Singh Cassidy talks to eShe TV about her experiences in Silicon Valley, risk-taking from a gender perspective, and her new book 'Choose Possibility'.

In this episode of eShe TV, we speak to one of the most highly regarded and well-respected tech executives in Silicon Valley, Sukhinder Singh Cassidy, who has just released her first book Choose Possibility: How to Master Risk and Thrive (Pan Macmillan India, Rs 699).

With over 25 years of experience as a technology CEO in Silicon Valley, entrepreneur, board member and investor, Sukhinder – who currently lives with her husband and three children in the San Francisco Bay Area – has helped scale global companies including Google, Amazon and Stubhub, and has advised several others like TripAdvisor, Ericsson and J Crew. She has also built several companies of her own such as Yodlee and The Boardlist.

Born in Africa and raised in Canada, Sukhinder’s parents are of Sikh origin and have their roots in Punjab, India. Her father, a medical doctor, moved along with his family from Kenya to Canada when Sukhinder was just two years old.

In her new book, Sukhinder talks about risk-taking being a continuous process starting from smaller to bigger risks. She shares anecdotes from her own life and those of others to demonstrate how risk-taking yields cumulative benefits over a longer period of time, and advises people to ‘choose possibility’ each time they are called to take a decision.

eShe editor Aekta Kapoor speaks to Sukhinder about her book, her experiences in Silicon Valley, her advice to women about risk-taking, and the notions of success and failure.
