Becoming a more environmentally conscious and ethical consumer does not mean compromising on your lifestyle choices. The STEP Trust is all set to host the Earth Mela at Jashn-E-Aman 2018 hosted by the Italian Embassy Cultural Center, at Chandragupta Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
As last year, you’ll find a whole lot of products and services from over 50 enterprises that are environmentally friendly and ethically produced – from jewellery, apparel, textiles, giftware, footwear, accessories and stationery to home décor, air purifiers and food.
Jashn-e-Anam, an annual festival for peace organized by STEP Trust (Standing Together To Enable Peace Trust), is hosting the mela this year on 15th and 16th September, 2018, from 10 am to 8 pm both days. eShe is the proud media partner for the event.
The bazaar, which brings together ethical lifestyle brands from across NCR and beyond, has been curated by 23.23 Designs and Sourcing, a social enterprise founded by Sonali Pal. The organisation helps artisan clusters — and other social enterprises and NGOs making handcrafted products — connect to the market. Their mandate is “People, Planet, Partnerships”.
All participating brands have to follow certain guidelines: Their products or services must be sustainable, environmentally friendly or must give back to the community in some way, or work with a cause related to gender empowerment or upliftment of the marginalised. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to upcycle, recycle and reuse.
It is a non-ticketed event, and all funds raised through stall bookings go towards STEP for its NGO activities. You need a valid photo ID proof to get entry. Paid valet parking is available but shoppers are encouraged to carpool or use cabs.
To participate, write to stepmelas@gmail.com.
