eShe Book Club

Welcome to the eShe Book Club!

This is where we get together in a stimulating space on Discord (app login required) to spotlight, discuss and celebrate books by South Asian women writers.

Each month, we select a featured book by a South Asian woman author, and members are invited to read along, share reflections, and take part in discussions throughout the month.

Once a month, we host the featured author live for an online conversation, giving members the opportunity to engage directly with the writer and their work.

While our featured reads centre South Asian women authors, we also welcome thoughtful discussion of other books, particularly those by women writers and meaningful reads that members would like to share.

The club is open to all genders and is intended to be a respectful, supportive space for learning, exchange and literary connection.

Whether you’re here to actively participate, discover new voices, share your views and reviews, promote your own writing, or simply drop in for book recommendations, we’re glad to have you with us.

eShe Book Club Rules

Be kind and respectful: We celebrate different opinions and experiences. Keep discussions friendly and supportive. Disagreements are okay, personal attacks are not.

Celebrate our mission: Our featured reads highlight South Asian women authors. While other books are welcome in the Reading Lounge, the Featured channels focus on the monthly author and book.

Use spoiler tags: Respect everyone’s reading experience! Use #spoilers or clearly label spoilers.

Everyone is welcome: This space is open to all genders and backgrounds. Please honour diverse perspectives and lived experiences.

Share thoughtfully: Feel free to share book suggestions, reviews, or your own work – but avoid spamming and use designated channels.

Stay in the right channel: For instance, Featured Book channels are meant for discussing that month’s book. Reading Lounge is for other books and recommendations. Off-Topic is for casual conversation. And so on.

Privacy and safety first: Do not share personal information about yourself or others without permission.

Moderators are here to help: Moderators may move or edit posts to keep the community safe and aligned with our mission.
